Connecting Local Suppliers to LNG Opportunities

The Maputo Supplier Networking Forum welcomed more than 250 attendees, including representatives from the Area 4 Partners, as well as local and international businesses and government officials.

The event featured a detailed presentation on the Area 4 Rovuma LNG project, outlining upcoming opportunities for local suppliers, particularly in construction, logistics, and services. Discussions centered on procurement challenges and strategies to enhance local participation, and on how best to equip businesses with the practical knowledge they need to navigate the contracting process.

Following its success, MozUp held a second Supplier Networking Forum in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, drawing some 150 participants from local and international businesses, organizations, and government. This session reinforced key supply chain themes from the Maputo event while addressing concerns raised by local Cabo Delgado suppliers, including certification costs, payment terms, and procurement transparency. MozUp is guiding potential suppliers through the registration process on the Supplier Relationship Management Portal (SRMP) and facilitating business connections among key stakeholders. Attendees took advantage of networking sessions, maximizing opportunities for collaboration and long-term engagement on the project.

The interactive Q&A sessions in both forums proved particularly valuable, allowing suppliers to voice their concerns and gain direct insights from project implementers. Key takeaways included the importance of adhering to safety, security, health, and environment (SSHE) standards and leveraging MozUp’s resources to navigate compliance and procurement challenges.
