Prior to joining DAI, Eric worked in development for more than 30 years across the public and private sectors. He created the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, a public-private partnership that streamlines processes to move goods across borders, instigated a renewed U.S. emphasis on domestic resource mobilization as a key development and governance tool—the largest source of financing for developing nations—and was instrumental in the creation of Power Africa, which mobilized $54 billion in commitments by 210 private sector partners, with more than 160 transactions closed in 42 countries to provide more than 15,000 megawatts of generating capacity.

Eric is the founder of Pangaea Partners, an investment banking and consulting firm focused on emerging markets. He was also one of the founders of Zambia’s leading stockbroker, which was sold 10 years later to its local employees. Amongst his work on projects in 70 countries, Eric helped four African countries create or improve their stock markets, created small business lending programs in emerging markets, and advised on the creation of the Slovak Export-Import Bank.

Before Pangaea, Eric worked as a Vice President at Citibank Tokyo. His work included serving as Bangladesh’s first-ever financial advisor, arranging India’s first-ever Japanese tax-lease financing, and devising financing for Jamaica International Telecommunications Limited (JAMINTEL) from Japanese investors, which was the first international securitization of future receivables without a corporate guaranty (a structure subsequently used for more than $80 billion worth of financings).

Eric also has five years of experience working in biotechnology and providing capital to clean energy start-ups and energy-efficient projects in Wisconsin. Between his undergraduate and graduate studies, he served as a United States Naval Officer.
