Chana Rabiner is a Global Health Specialist with 20 years of experience working in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, and Central America to build sustainable health systems. She has an extensive technical and policy background in health security, emerging infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, as well as a strong background in program management, health systems strengthening, supply chain, and international research coordination from her work in both the public and private sector. This includes her work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) as a program manager and laboratory advisor.

She comes to DAI from an appointment at Washington State University where she was the Director for the USAID Discovery & Exploration of Emerging Pathogens project. Prior to that, she was the Global Health Security Lead on USAID’s Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance project, working to strengthen developing countries’ capacities to detect and surveil for priority pathogens and diseases of public health importance. During COVID-19, her technical work contributed to multiple countries increasing their diagnostic capacity to respond to the pandemic as well as supporting the international community to set diagnostic standards for testing algorithms. She has also served on various technical international working groups including those for the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief and World Health Organization.
