Daniel Clarke is the Director of the Centre for Disaster Protection, where he leads the mission to prevent disasters from devastating lives and economies. With a strong foundation as an actuary and economist, Daniel brings to the Centre more than 20 years of experience developing innovative risk finance solutions. He has collaborated with more than 40 developing country governments, multilateral institutions, and the private sector to design and implement financial strategies that improve disaster preparedness and resilience.
Daniel’s work has significantly influenced global policy and practice in disaster risk financing, driving forward solutions and advocating for effective, equitable strategies that save lives and protect economies. His publication, Dull Disasters? How Planning Ahead Will Make a Difference, co-authored with Stefan Dercon, is considered a seminal work in the field.
